Bold Velvet- Fall Trend

For some odd reason, once Fall comes around people tend to ditch their bold colors in their wardrobe for monotone colors such as grey, black, and brown. Assuming that these colors are considered “more in season”.  I’m here to tell you that isn’t necessary.

As seen from this past fall NYFW runways, the velvet trend is coming back this fall, but instead of the usual black, brown, and navy, it’s showing up in louder bolder colors. With Fall here, and the holidays approaching (It’s basically Christmas Eve),  bold color velvet is a perfect combination for this season.

I  decided to incorporate this trend through my accessories, a turban. I have always been a fan of turbans, but after seeing my friend/make up artist Esther (IG @wenduisaac) rock her velvet turbans,  I became obsessed. Seeing how much I loved her turbans, she was nice enough to bring one back from her visit back home  (Nigeria y’all!  *sticks out tongue*) .

In this look, I wore my turban with a basic grey t-shirt dress from Forever 21  and paired it with black thigh high boots from BooHoo, and topped off the look with a silver statement necklace ( also from Boohoo). Makeup wise, I went with a fuchsia monochromatic look to match the color of the turban, which helped brought out my face and made the turban pop even more.
